Health, safety and securityAt ICK your child’s safety, health and security is of utmost importance. For more than 5 years, the commitment to this responsibility has been our number one priority. Beyond meeting the Vietnamese safety requirements, we also adhere to the health and safety standards set by the Singaporean Early Childhood Development Agency. The following measures are in place to ensure the safety, health and security of your children: Health check • Each morning before entering the premises, our school nurse conducts a basic health check. This includes:
1.Taking the child’s temperature
2.Looking for mouth ulcers
3.Looking for blisters on the hands and feet
4.Lastly the child’s hands are sanitized before going to class
• The staff continues to monitor the child for any symptoms of illness during the day and notifies parents when their child does not feel well to help prevent an illness from spreading.
• Twice per year a team of doctor and nurses will do a full medical check and recommend further follow up if necessary.
Cleanliness • Our centre is constantly cleaned by our dedicated staff throughout the day.
• Toys and other materials are disinfected regularly with safe, non-toxic cleaning products. These products are locked away safely out of the reach of children.
• Our kitchen is sanitized daily and is a restricted access area to maintain the highest level of hygiene.
Personal hygiene • Children are taking a shower every day. All teachers have been specifically trained to make this a fun, but above all safe experience for the children.
• We encourage children to wash their hands several times throughout the day. We make learning about health and hygiene fun through songs and rhymes.
Security • Our school has engaged a professional security firm to ensure only authorized staff and families enter the premises.
•No child will be released to any unknown person without written authorization and proper identification.
• Our safe and secure perimeters ensure that children can enjoy outdoor play safely.
•Our school is equipped with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers and we obtained all necessary fire safety certificates.
Meals • We believe it is important for children to cultivate healthy dietary habits from a young age. As such, all our meals are well-balanced, varied and nutritious; they are low in fat, sugar, salt and cholesterol and adequate in protein, vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre, following strict guidelines from the Ministry of Health
• Food samples of all meals prepared by our kitchen staff are sealed and kept for 24 hours in order to trace back any symptoms children might have.
• Weekly menus are posted on the parents’ information board.
• All meals are prepared by our specially trained in-house cooks and are designed to be both appropriately nutritious as well as appealing to the children.
• The names of children who have allergies or special diet requirements are prominently displayed in the dining room for our teachers to take the necessary precautions.
Medication • We have strict policies for administering medication to children. We require a doctor’s note for any medication to be given to a child to ensure their safety.
• Medications are stored out of the reach of children.
Age appropriate facilities • Our facility is purpose built and meets all requirements set out by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education as well as the Singaporean Early Childhood Development Agency.
• All sanitary facilities (toilets, washbasin, shower, etc) are at the appropriate height for children toilets.
• Our safe environment encourages autonomy, which in turn encourages confidence.
• ICK has age-appropriate, high-quality playground equipment that is safe and child approved.
• All outside play areas are inside secure fences with locked gates.
• Children may not use play equipment when it is wet and without the supervision of an adult.
